Proud Parents: In The News
A Missouri mother has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly giving her 13-year-old daughter methamphetamine several times over the summer.
Anne Lampe, 34, of Springfield, told police she might have smoked meth with her daughter five or six times between May 1 and September 30 to help the girl ease the pain from tendonitis.
According to court documents, the teen told investigators her mother gave her the drug more times than she could remember.
Prosecutors say Lampe told police she knew it was wrong to give the 13-year-old meth, but she did it because the girl would ‘throw a fit’ if she didn’t get it.
The 13-year-old said she would either smoke meth, snort it or ‘hot rail’ it, which entails using a glass pipe to inhale the smoke.
According to officials, the first time Lampe smoked drugs with her daughter was in her car. The second was in the woman’s home on East Walnut Street, the Springfield News Leader reported.
Besides meth, investigators say Lampe supplied her child with prescription drugs. including alprazolam and hydrocodone.
