Proud Parents: In The News
Pictured above is 47 year old William Todd Lewallen, of Tulsa. Charged with child neglect, police arrived at his door after receiving a call from a neighbour that found his young daughter outside of the house crying, naked and cold. When William didn’t answer the door, the neighbour brought the child back to his house and called the police. What happened next is even worse.
Upon forcefully entering the home, they found the cage pictured above with an 18 month old baby inside, covered in her own feces. Moving through the home they found a 3 year old sleeping in another room with their father, William, who passed out from a drug and alcohol induced stupor.
A toddler was found in a cage, his dad was found drunk and was arrested by police. On Nov. 13, ABC News reported that a Tulsa, Oklahoma man was in an “induced stupor” on Sunday afternoon. A neighbor saw the man’s 4-year-old daughter outside, naked, on a cold day and decided to go knock on the door. After no one answered, the police were called.
“After forcing their way inside, police discovered the toddler was covered in feces and that a 3-year-old child was asleep in another room. Their father was found asleep on a bed, ‘in an alcohol- or narcotics-induced stupor,'” explained Officer Leland Ashley. The three children were taken in to custody by the Department of Human Services—their dad was promptly arrested.
When a toddler is found in a cage, that’s one thing… however there was a lot more wrong with this scenario. It is unknown if the man put his child in the dog crate or whether the child managed to get in there himself. Either way, the child was covered in feces and all three children were unattended which is the real problem here.

The children’s mother was at work and came home to an awful situation at home. She was not arrested, but it’s clear that she is left picking up the pieces after this incredible incident. It is unknown whether or not she plans to bail out her children’s father, who is being held on $50,000 bond.
A toddler found in a cage is only one part of this story. The father is a huge puzzle piece. According to ABC News, a man by the same name—with the same birth date—plead guilty to possession of a precursor to manufacture methamphetamine back in August.
