15 Year Old’s Very Clever “I’m Gay” Note To Her Parents

im-gay-cake
The note reads:

“Good morning parents,

I’m gay. I’ve wanted to tell you for a long time. I thought doing it this way would be a piece of cake. I hope you still love me. I mean, it’s hard not to love someone who baked you a cake.

All my friends know and still love me. Your acceptance would be the icing on the cake.

I hope you, much like this cake, are not in tiers.

I hope we can look back on this and say “boy, this one really takes the cake”.

It gets batter.

Love, Laurel
(Sorry for so many puns)”

Congrats Laurel, on an extremely clever way of coming out of the closet. For all of those wondering, her parents were very accepting of her message and her lifestyle.

  1. If it had been a boy I’d wonder about the icing on the cake.

  3. I bet this came as a shock to no one.

    This isnt clever, its obnoxious.

  5. This seems phony. Look at the note – it’s a computer font made to look like a kid’s handwriting but every character is identical in shape. Why would a 15 year old make a note like that?

  7. It’s a handwritten note. The letters aren’t all identical in shape, by far. Close, but not identical. I knew someone in high school who wrote like this, and was very deliberate in the way he wrote so his handwriting was almost uniform. The lines are also uneven, and not many people would go through the effort of expanding the margins to make it look handwritten.
But I agree, this is just obnoxious. Kind of cowardly, too. I know it’s hard to tell stuff to your parents sometimes, but personally, I’d rather hear it firsthand than wake up to an over-iced cake.

  15. Good for you sweety. Parents can be really unforgiving.

  16. wtf on February 2nd, 2013
  17. Um, yeah, speaking as the parent of a gay child, it surprised no one. The parents knew it before Laurel did.

  27. I can’t believe how many folks on here make such unkind comments. This is a 15 year old girl, not an adult. She still needs her parents approval, she’s still young enough to be scared of their reaction if they were angry with her. I think it was a very sweet gesture, and if my daughter had come out to me this way, I would have had to laugh. It’s clever and shows a little girl trying to soften the blow for her parents.

  29. How do you know it’s a Girl? I say it’s a boy and given a gay name like Laurel…..

Some moron parents give their kids a name that gives them little chance in life. i knew a girl named “Star” and yes she turned out to be a Ho…..I guess she could have been a stripper. Some Ahole at work named her girl Mercedes…..PLEASE…..

  31. whats up with everyone saying its obnoxious?? this clever in my opninion the kid is 15 he will be back home to discuss it with his parents its not like he can act like he never said anything. and i bet he did it this way to show he loves them and so that if they are pissed at least they have time to get out anger or shock before the kid gets home amd then have a better talk with the kid rather than just speaking irrational to the child
