LIL’ CHUBBY

When you see a child that is morbidly obese, it’s likely there’s a medical issue causing it. When you see two children from the same parent, they’re both morbidly obese and so is she.. it’s a parenting issue.

  3. IMO its child abuse. Parents like that need to have their kids taken. Their kids are at risk for so many health problems that they shouldn’t be till they are much much older that it’s sad

  7. I don’t understand people. As a chubby person, I’d never let my kid get like this. It’s mean~

  9. There is a disorder called G6PD that is hereditary, and it has something to do with the growth hormones in a child. When you see a child who is morbidly obese like this, they more than likely have that disorder or a similar disorder. Actually, there are adults who have it as well and it has gone undiagnosed. These children may be prone to overeat, but the way their bodies process food is not the same as other children who can easily burn it off.

  11. This is sad. Imagine what their parents must look like after a lifetime of clearly eating crap.

  13. What gets me is when so many plead poverty as the cause. That’s total bull IMHO. It’s pure laziness by the parents. They don’t want to get their fat asses off the couch and take their children for walks, play ball, go to the park, etc.

  15. If these same parents were not feeding their children they would be reported. But these kids are just as malnutritioned as kids who are starved. Their little brains need nutriants to function. Which is why when you see them walking around wal mart with a coke in one hand and cheetoes in the other they have such a blank look on their face.

  17. Yes – lets damn the poor people because the government cheese is covered in salt & sugar and deep-fried.

The stuff thats given is canned off-brand foods, and sugar-carb-loaded items.

Even if you exercise 2 hours a day, if you can’t afford but to eat crap, you’re going to look bad.

How do I know? I had friends who were that poor. Section 8. So Bird? If you want to change it – SPEND YOUR CASH ON A POOR PERSON. and STFU. Asshole.

P.S. I feel so bad for these kids.

  19. Yes, poverty can lead to eating crappy food and being unable to afford organized sports, or living in an area where it’s unsafe for kids to play outside unsupervised. HOWEVER, that might lead to being 10-20 lbs overweight. If you’re 100 or 150 lbs overweight, then you’re just making excuses and need to shut up and put the fork down. (Same goes for thyroid conditions or PCOS, as well as most meds. Besides, a good 70% of thyroid/PCOS/joint problems are a result of being fat, not the cause.)

  21. I agree with you to some extent Lobster Pot but my son is always very healthy and I have crohn’s so I have a very limited food budget but I cannot eat highly processed food so it takes a lot of shopping sales and markdowns and freezing or cooking up stuff while its on sale and freezing, and coupons and somehow I seem to always *just* make it work. My son for a snack eats about half an apple so with some OJ on the slices, they last for two snacks or we share it. We do use quite a bit of snack bags and freezer bags. He always has access to his healthy snack drawer which has sugar free jello, greek yogurt, and usually some cheese and cut up veggies in bags. Don’t get me wrong he likes chips and cookies too but I have taught him those are the exception, not the rule. It makes me sad to see children look like that bc to me its never been hard work for my son to be healthy.

  23. Nova –
Really?? Thyroid disease only causes a 10-20lb weight increase? So nice to know that having mine removed wasn’t the reason that I gained nearly 100 pounds, despite continuing to eat well and exercise, despite the doctor saying that’s what it was. Glad to know that some random idiot on the net knows more than a nationally renowned endocrinologist.

  25. What i don’t understand is if truth be told how you will be now not in fact a lot much more nicely-favored than you might be right now. You might be quite intelligent. You already know therefore considerably when it comes to this topic, produced me personally imagine it from a great deal of numerous angles. Its like women and men are not fascinated unless it¡¦s 1 factor to accomplish with Lady gaga! Your individual stuffs good. All of the time care for it up!

  27. I don’t get how people figure it’s cheaper to buy junk food than healthy fruits and vegetables…I’m not talking about buying prime rib and lobster here.
You can get quite a few veggies for the cost of a large bag of potato chips.
It’s not easy to buy groceries on a limited budget, but it’s a lie that if you’re poor, you HAVE to buy junk in order to eat.
For the record, I am poor.

  28. Eldubu on December 29th, 2011
  29. Eldubu – It’s not simply a matter of what you buy while poor. Even IF we go under the assumption that the “poor” people in question receiving foodstamps or some money to buy food that’s likely not their only source. People who have to rely on welfare also frequently rely on churches, food pantries, and so on. While most of these places at least try to buy healthy foods, they also wind up including things that are anything but – including bags of chips, over-processed cereals, and so on. Also, stating that you can get a FEW veggies for the cost of a LARGE bag of chips should say it too – you can afford to get healthier if you eat substantially less, but the money given for food to these people is normally not even enough for them all to feel full throughout the month (personal experience).

Of course there’s as good a chance as anything that it is a GENETIC condition if all of the family members have the same issue (regardless of what the issue is). Looking at a picture of a couple exceptionally large children doesn’t actually mean anything about what they eat – they could be eating two meals a day that are almost exclusively fruits and veggies for all we really know…all we see is that they are overweight.
