In the theme of teaching kids things too young, we bring you this Proud Father.

  1. As much as I treasure our Second Amendment liberty, there is an appropriate time, place, and age for everything. This is not appropriate.

  3. You can NEVER be too young for safety training!

  5. You know, there was this study about ten years ago that showed that if a kid knows the basics about sex and the proper name of body parts by the time they’re three, they’re less likely to be the victim of a pedophile, let likely to have sex as teens, more likely to report a sexual assault, and more likely to use birth control when they become sexually active. Now, who’s to say that if that’s true, that teaching kids how to safely handle guns when they’re young won’t stop a lot of accidental shootings? Hm? Perhaps by showing her things like how to check if it’s loaded, how to aim, how destructive a gun is, etc, this will keep her from playing with one when she’s older and blowing her own brains out.

All in all, it’s not as stupid as people who let their kids play with boa constrictors!

  7. I agree with Jami.
My dad let me shoot his guns when I was this age. Nothing wrong with it, as long as he’s being responsible. At least he’s not strangling his newborn with a garbage bag and leaving it in a public restroom to be found be a janitor.

  9. Tough to say for sure, but I think this girl’s got me beat. I didn’t get to fire my first gun until I was about four.

Jami and Lobster Pot Girl, I <3 you. lordofthegadflies, you're a tool.

  11. I shot my first handgun at the age of three (with a helpful hand of course). My dad took me out and taught me to ALWAYS keep it pointed away from people. I was taught to respect it. Shown what happens when it is shot. My curiosity was released through early and proper knowledge.

I remember around the age of 8 my father was cleaning his handguns and a friend came over to play. She seemed shocked and asked “You have GUNS”? My reply was “Yeah, we have pots and pans too”.

I have guns in my home.(properly stored) I also have 4 young sons. I’ve repeated what my father has done for me. I’ve taken them out at an early age (mine was five when I took each out) I’ve answered their questions, showed them what it does to objects when they pull a trigger and they too have a full respect for them. I applaud this father.

  15. Nothing wrong with this. I agree with Jami. :)

  17. That is the perfect time to learn gun safety. Good father!

  19. @ Jami, there was also a study about big ugly people who have nothing better to do with their lives then comment on EVERY single picture on this (and I am sure many other sites) Jeez I have stopped in here a couple of times during my break at work recently and have noticed you have something to say about everything and everyone! Try getting your fat ass out of the house and doing something with yourself. At least take that fugly picture down for the rest of us! your comments and opinions are enough, do we need to look at your ugly picture also? Get a man, a girl, a dildo or something and F- OFF for awhile

  21. Only thing I would correct here is hearing protection. At least the dad is being responsible here.

  22. DixieLandMan on November 23rd, 2011
  23. Yup, good call on the hearing protection.

  24. fell8 on November 23rd, 2011
  25. Dan – shut up. You’re not even on topic. At least Jami had something valid and purposeful to say.

  26. Lobster Pot Girl on November 23rd, 2011
  27. Dan, only YOU can say anything? You don’t have to agree with anyone. And you don’t have to visit the site either?

The site is here to comment on. That’s why we have a B-L-O-G site!

And how do you know what anyone does with their time?

Overweight is not always because someone eats too much and is too lazy to move. There are dozens of reasons why someone may be overweight.

Not only that, but even if it isn’t for one of the above reasons…IT’S HER LIFE to live…NOT YOURS bucko!

Besides…your mouth is too big. I don’t like that…so using your model does that mean I can tell you to shut up?

  29. There is nothing wrong with this picture. I was two when my father fisrt took me shooting. Teaching a child about safty at a young age is the best way to prevent an accident from a child who knows nothing. and now at 27 I have a picture of my 3 year old daughter standing with my husband shooting her first gun that looks exactly like this one.

  31. I’m 100% for training and education with the proper handling and care of firearms at an early age. But this is too early for a handgun in my opinion. BUT, that does not go to say that this specific child may have been ready in the Father’s eyes. I know my 12 year old I wouldn’t let her near a BB gun unsupervised. But I have a feeling my 4 year old will be ready for a pistol by her Sister’s age.

  32. AMidgetAndAClub on November 27th, 2011
  33. no ear and eye protection?

  34. dave on November 30th, 2011
  35. it kinda looks like the little girl is crying.

  36. froggie on December 20th, 2011
  37. Where are the picts of the liberal protesters using their kids as props? Or picts of teachers indoctrinating the children with propaganda? There are picts of parents with kids attending violent Occupy protests and trespassing. At least one pict of a parent using their child(ren) to block railroad tracks.

I am gone. Tired of the biased liberal antigun BS going on here.

  38. Steve on December 29th, 2011
  39. Dude….you’re (almost) never too young to learn gun safety.

  40. gabriel on January 25th, 2012
  41. There is nothing wrong, at all, with this photo. In fact, my 10 and 4 year old know more about firearm safety and can handle a firearm better than many adults. Proper training can never be started to young.
