Wow, that brings back memories. Mom did that on a Florida vacation years ago. Dad freaked, but mom assured him it was fine because the gator was behind a fence. It was a split rail fence.
I live in Florida on a lake and we see tourists get too close all the time. These things are fast and you better know what you are doing to get this close.
Having said that…We bought a 5ft long chainsaw carved wooden ‘gator that we put in our backyard. It was stained and varnished. I had my young grands sit on it’s back and pretend it was real and I took their photo.
Got quite a reaction out of my British in-laws! It did look real in the photo.
The one above IS real. The kid IS in danger…Crazy. Those teeth are like razors.
